Yuchai YCR280E Rotary Drilling Rig: New-Look Model Makes Overseas Debut in Saudi Arabia

Recently, the new-look Yuchai YCR280E rotary drilling rig has made its overseas debut in the Ha'il Region of Saudi Arabia, and been successfully applied to the tower foundation piling construction of a key power transmission project of Saudi Electricity Company.

The project specifies a drilling diameter of 1 m and a drilling depth of 10 m. The stratum is dominated by highly weathered sandstone. In addition, the local area features a harsh climate with perennial aridity, scarce rainfall and frequent sandstorms, which imposes stringent requirements on the stability, adaptability and operating efficiency of construction equipment. After extensive research, evaluation and selection, the new Yuchai YCR280E rotary drilling rig was selected for the core drilling work thanks to its targeted technical upgrades.

At the debut site, the new YCR280E rotary drilling rig demonstrated strong construction capacity. When tackling the highly weathered sandstone stratum, it completed single-hole drilling operation in just 35 minutes, with hole forming quality fully compliant with the project’s technical specifications.

“In the desert sandstorm environment, the YCR280E delivers outstanding performance with its dust-proof and sealing design, operating continuously without failures, and handles the construction of 1 m diameter piles with ease,” said the project construction supervisor, speaking highly of the equipment’s performance.

The successful debut not only validates the reliability and adaptability of the equipment, but also highlights the competitiveness of Chinese equipment in the field of infrastructure construction in the Middle East.
